2007-08 Season Recap
With tenth year head coach David Allen at the helm, the Mount Holyoke College swimming and diving team posted a dual-meet record of 4-6 during the 2007-08 campaign. The Lyons defeated Western Connecticut State University, Elms College, Babson College and Western New England College.
Senior Grace Bauer captured first place finishes in 28 events over the course of the year to lead the way. She established a new school record in the 50-meter butterfly with her time of 30.39 at the Pioneer Valley Invitational. Bauer was named Mount Holyoke’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year at the College’s annual athletic awards celebration.
The Lyons also received a boost from senior Meredith Bartelstein, who provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championships in the 3-meter diving event. Classmate Ginny Taylor chipped in with 20 first place finishes.
Mount Holyoke picked up a fourth place finish at the Seven Sisters Championships, hosted by Smith College. The team then rounded out its season with a ninth place showing at the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships, hosted by Wellesley College.
