2008-09 Season Recap
The Mount Holyoke College indoor track and field program entered into a new era in 2008-09, as Beth Somerset took over as head coach. Under her direction, the Lyons competed in six events during the winter.
Miriam Larson-Koester highlighted the year with her outstanding results in the throwing events. The first year qualified for the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships in the shot put. Her toss of 10.68 meters was good for 16th place overall.
Larson-Koester registered a personal best distance of 11.26 meters at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Invitational one week earlier. Prior to that, she placed second out of 28 competitors with a throw of 10.74 meters at Wesleyan University’s Cardinal Invitational.
The first year also fared well in the weight throw. She notched a personal record of 11.81 meters at the Smith College’s Tartan Invitational.
As a team, Mount Holyoke posted an eighth place result at the Wheaton College Invitational and a 13th place finish at the Tartan Invitational.
