2008 Volleyball Blog - Week 6

by Chelsea Tracy - October 22, 2008

This week, the volleyball team was lucky enough to have two prospective students visit us for Focus on Athletics week. A couple of us were fortunate enough to go to the dinner that was hosted at Willits for the visiting students. We were all quite excited because of the amazing reviews we had heard from Amanda on the food that was served - mainly the famous Mount Holyoke carrot cake. We all had a great time at the dinner. The slideshow was great, as always, and the speeches were all very welcoming and heartfelt - Coach Terrell's in particular.

Volleyball Fun

After the dinner, we all met at our apartment to do some “Arts and Crafts," as Brenna and Rosa like to call it. We made delicious caramel apples and did some pumpkin carving, or in Rosa’s case pumpkin painting - orange I might add. Your guess is as good as mine. At least she painted the pumpkins and not our walls, as she originally had planned on doing. Everyone’s pumpkin was quite skillfully made, with some help from Amanda’s pumpkin carving set and stencil book she had, but Amanda, Brenna and I decided to go above and beyond and “bedazzle” a pumpkin for Coach. With Brenna’s amazing pumpkin carving skills, she created a volleyball pumpkin. To top it off, Amanda and I decided to thoroughly decorate it. With puffy paint, glitter paint and a large assortment of jewels, we created what I would like to call the best decorated pumpkin.

The next night, we all headed to the Thirsty Mind to spend some more time together as a team and with our new prospie. Fortunately, just about everyone from the team was able to make it. We all had great coffee/hot chocolate and played a rather intense game of scrabble - a little too intense for some of us. We hope to continue having fun and hopefully use some of that to lend a hand on the court.
