Coach Sonnie Terrell

Sonnie Terrell is in her second season as head coach of the volleyball program at Mount Holyoke College.

Prior to joining the Lyons staff, Terrell enjoyed a two-year stint (2006-2008) as an assistant coach at Smith College. While at Smith, she directed the non-traditional season, developed offensive and defensive strategies, designed and directed practices, assisted in recruiting, developed and implemented an off-season training and conditioning program and developed scouting reports on opponents. Terrell recently graduated from Smith with a Master of Science Degree in Exercise and Sport Studies with an emphasis in women’s coaching.

From 2002-2006, Terrell served as an assistant coach on both the volleyball and softball staffs at Hanover College (Ind.). In 2005, she was the interim head coach for the softball program at the College.

A standout student-athlete at Franklin College (Ind.), Terrell was a four-year member (1998-2001) of the volleyball program, serving as team captain as a senior. In 2002, she was named the school’s David C. Naile Memorial Award winner for outstanding leadership and mental attitude as a female, senior athlete. She also participated in softball as a first year (2000). Terrell graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Secondary Education and Physical Education from Franklin in 2002.
