Summer Funding for Internships/Research
Universal Application Form (UAF)
Mount Holyoke College’s Universal Application Form (UAF) provides students with a centralized program for admission to MHC coordinated expense-paid internships and research projects and financial fellowships for self-identified and self-developed opportunities.
In 2011, Mount Holyoke provided nearly 175 students with UAF fellowships for internship and research projects for close to $570,000. Student intern and research fellows have pursued diverse projects across the globe in fields ranging from the arts, education, science, technology, environment, communication, health care, finance and social services. Standard UAF fellowships typically range from $3,000 (domestic) to $3,500 (international) for projects over 8 weeks; and from $1,500 (domestic) to $2,000 (international) for projects under 8 weeks. Sophomores and juniors are eligible to apply. First years are eligible only for the HHMI program.
Summer research and internships provide invaluable opportunities for students to apply their liberal arts education in practical settings, clarify their career interests, develop new professional skills and receive a competitive advantage in the job market or when applying to graduate schools.
UAF fellowships make it possible for students to pursue opportunities in traditionally under funded fields, or for unpaid or partially funded opportunities. Supplemental grants are also available to eligible students to off-set the loss of expected summer earnings.
Application Deadline: February 24, 2012 at 5:00 pm.
The entire UAF application must be completed and submitted to the committee by this time. The UAF application system will close at 5 pm and applications will not be accepted after this point.
