Pre-Law
Your decision about law school -- what it means to you, whether to apply, how to apply, how to prepare and gain admittance to the best school for your career goals and interests -- is important to us at the CDC.
MHC's pre-law advisor, Kim Parent, is available to discuss with you the ins and outs of law school at any point in your years at MHC and after you graduate. Consider these tips for success as a pre-law student:
- Choose a college major that suits your interests and in which you will thrive academically
- Get to know your professors and employers -- make sure they know you well enough to write letters of recommendation on your behalf
- Prepare well for the LSAT
- Find summer jobs or internships that help you explore your interest in studying law
- Talk to lawyers about the work they do
- Take courses that challenge you to think, write, and read analytically
- Get involved in campus and community activities in your areas of interest
- Read major national news sources to keep current with world events
- Submit your law school applications early in the application cycle
- Investigate your financing options early and apply for financial aid early in the admissions cycle
To begin exploring law school, add yourself to the pre-law mailing list by sending an email to Kim Parent with your name and class year. You will receive announcements about pre-law events happening on campus and in the Five College area.
Whether you are applying to law school now or in the very early stages of exploring this option, please contact the CDC (413-538-2080) to make an appointment (in-person or via phone) with the College's pre-law advisor, Kim Parent.
