About the Organization:

American Rivers is the only national organization standing up for healthy rivers so our communities can thrive. Through national advocacy, innovative solutions and our growing network of strategic partners, we protect and promote our rivers as valuable assets that are vital to our health, safety and quality of life.
Founded in 1973, American Rivers has more than 65,000 members and supporters nationwide, with offices in Washington, DC and the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast, Midwest, Southeast, California and Northwest regions.

• Healthy Waters
The Healthy Waters campaign 1) advocates for Right-to-Know legislation that warns citizens of sewage pollution and 2) educates developers, partners and local government about natural stormwater management techniques.
• Water for Life
The Water for Life campaign 1) explores new approaches for providing communities with reliable water supplies and 2) works with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to promote WaterSense.
• River Renewal
The River Renewal campaign 1) provides communities with technical and financial assistance to restore natural river functions, floodplains and wetlands and 2) advances new policies to “protect” communities from flooding.
• River Heritage
The River Heritage campaign 1) increases the protection of the nation’s remaining free-flowing rivers through Wild and Scenic designations and 2) establishes blue trails to connect people to their local rivers.
