MHC Stewardship Panel

"Focus the Campus"

The Focus the Campus panel will discuss energy use on campus, energy conservation projects and programs, and what we as a community can do to reduce our carbon footprint.


Panelists

Nancy Apple has been Director of Environmental Health and Safety since 1997.  She took on coordination of  Environmental Stewardship, programs to reduce the environmental footprint of campus operations,  in 2003.  Nancy graduated from Smith College and has a Masters degree from The Pennsylvania State University.

John Bryant joined Mount Holyoke College as Director of Facilities Planning & Management in 2000. He is responsible for overseeing a variety of MHC initiatives reducing environmental impact.  These include efforts such as energy conservation projects, green building standards, co-generation, wetland, air, water, land use and regulatory issues, etc... John is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University and holds a Masters Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Todd Holland is the Energy Manager for Smith, Amherst, and Mount Holyoke colleges. His responsibilities include identifying and implementing cost-effective ways to reduce fossil fuel and electrical energy consumption.  Todd is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, and a registered professional engineer in California, Connecticut, Georgia, Ohio, Oregon, and Rhode Island.

Roger Guzowski is the Five College Recycling Manager.  Roger returned to Five Colleges in 2006 after 6 years managing University solid waste and recycling programs in California.  Over the past decade or so, he has been one of the most prolific speakers about College & University recycling issues, as well as a chair or steering committee member College & University councils for a variety of recycling organizations, including MassRecycle, the National Recycling Coalition, and the California Resource Recovery Association..

Molly Buerman '09 is a Biology major from South Hero, Vermont.  She has been involved with environmental initiatives at Mount Holyoke since she was a first-year and is particularly interested in energy conservation and climate issues.  Molly is currently the co-chair of EAC (the Environmental Action Coalition) and the student coordinator of the Kill-a-Watt and Eco-Liaison programs.
