Tuition waivers for summer study in Germany

Mount Holyoke may nominate 3 students for tuition waivers to study at the Berlin School of Economics and Law this summer. Courses (taught in English) include economics, business, management, marketing, and German language and culture. Apply to the McCulloch Center by February 15. (Students are responsible for airfare, room and board, books, and personal expenses.) See the Berlin School website for details.

MHC Blue Skies Sustainability Meetings

The 5-College Board of Directors is seeking ideas for new initiatives and programs in academic, co-curricular and operational aspects of sustainability. All members of the MHC community are invited to meet and brainstorm ideas for incorporating sustainability into the campus, the consortium and the community. Music 100 Exemption Exam

Music 100 Exam Exam will be given on Wed. Jan. 25 and Fri. Jan. 27 at 4 pm in Rm. 109, Pratt. Because the Department believes students enrolled in individual performance studies should have a thorough knowledge of the rudiments of music, enrollment for lessons is contingent on successful completion of, or exemption from, MUS100, regardless of whether a student’s home institution is Mount Holyoke or one of the other colleges in our consortium.  Click here for more information.

Steven J. Tepper Lecture: Creative Work and the Work of Creativity

Campus Police Move Thursday January 19

Campus Police is moving to our new location on Everett Road opposite Health Services and the Career Development Center. While the emergency lines (x1-911) will not be disrupted, business lines (including x2304) may be very briefly interrupted during this transition. We expect to be operational in the new building by the afternoon. Administrative Offices will move today between 12:30pm and 2:30pm.

Wireless Network Changes

Faculty/Staff & Students should now use the Wireless Network named: Lyonnet-Encrypt as their regular wireless network as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 17. Campus guests should continue to use MHC-Guest. Campus wireless networks are being consolidated. Faculty and staff who have previously used the MHC or MHC-Encrypt and students who have previously used Lyonnet will need to choose Lyonnet-Encrypt. If prompted, users should enter the standard wireless network password ‘marylyon’ . If the device was previously registered on any campus wireless network there should be no need to re-register the device. Click here for details.

Pedestrian Safety

Work has been completed on Rte. 116 to improve visibility of pedestrians crossing the street. Reminder: cross only at marked crosswalks; push the button and wait for the lights to flash; exercise caution when crossing. Religious expression can be something that is deeply personal and can vary just as much between different people within the same faith group as it can between different faith groups. Study Abroad Deadline: December 2

Morgan Street Paving Project

Morgan Street rehabilitation, between Route 116 and East Street, is scheduled to begin on Nov 16th. Milling of the existing pavement and laying of a leveling pavement course are scheduled for completion this fall. The finish pavement course will be installed next spring. Expect delays and seek alternate routes where possible. The project is being implemented by MassDOT. Information received from the Town of South Hadley.

Call for Proposals! Inclusiveness Inititatives Fund

All members of the community are invited to submit proposals for funding from the Inclusiveness Initiatives Fund (IIF). Workshop and Film Discussion by by Inés París

Inés París, President of the Women Filmmakers and Audio-Visual Media Asociation (CIMA) will hold a workshop on screenwriting and directing on Monday, October 31, 2011, in Dwight 101 from 4:30-5:30pm. She will also discuss her 2002 film “A mi madre le gustan las mujeres” (“My mother likes women”). This event will be conducted in both English and Spanish. The film will be screened Sunday, October 30, at 7:00 pm, also in Dwight 101.
