Deans' Offices
At its heart, each student's Mount Holyoke experience has two realms. The academic experience challenges her mind and fosters intellectual growth, while the living experience supports her learning and encourages personal development.
The Mount Holyoke leaders responsible for the quality of education both inside and outside the classroom hold the honored title "dean."
The dean of faculty, Donal O’Shea, is responsible for academic life at the College. The dean of faculty is responsible for setting academic priorities, hiring and overseeing the faculty, and working with other College departments to support academic excellence.
The dean of the College, Lee Bowie, plans and develops student services that enhance the quality of student life while supporting the academic mission. The dean of the College oversees the residential life system, health services, religious and cultural organizations, and preprofessional advising.

The dean of studies, Joseph Cohen, is responsible for aspects of student life directly related to academics, including academic advising; approval of special majors, leaves, and extensions; and the granting of academic honors.
