Sava A. Berhane '07
Sava Berhané graduated from Mount Holyoke with honors. While at Mount Holyoke, Sava majored in Politics and studied political theory and economics at Oxford University on a laurel fellowship. She also served as president of her class, co-chair of the campus black student organization, a member of the Presidential Commission on Diverse Community, and a member of the student conference committee of the Student Government Association. Sava was awarded the Ford Foundation Weed Research Fellowship, the Mount Holyoke College Student Leadership and Service award, and the Bardwell Memorial Fellowship.
Since graduation Sava has worked for the Harvard School of Public Health on projects to eliminate health disparities, also serving as a board member of the Community Research Advisory Board. She worked to coordinate financial literacy workshops in low-income neighborhoods. Most recently, she worked on the Obama for America campaign, which included serving as the Statewide Field Director for the Alabama operations. She has been named a John Kenneth Galbraith Scholar of Social Policy and Inequality by the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, a J.W. Saxe Public Service Scholar, and a Paul & Daisy Soros Fellow.
She is currently a student at Yale Law School.
