Claire:

“I had never really had the opportunity to be around a group of women who were really ready to make big things happen and knew that they were ready to be leaders in their fields and leaders in their professions once they left this place, and then in their time here really to really make the most of it these four years. And so suddenly, I met this whole group of people and was introduced to this institution that was all about making these four years about yourself and about exploring your various passions and interests. And I knew that I wanted to be a part of that all of a sudden … And so now that I am on campus, and I have the opportunity to sort of be a part of this culture of women who are really dedicated to this community and to the history of this institution, there’s a lot of Mount Holyoke identity wrapped up in sort of the founding roots. And so all of those things sort of became women’s education to me as opposed to a school without boys. And I really think that was a lot more important … And then, even further in placing Mount Holyoke within the Five College Consortium and knowing that I would have access to coed academic experiences and social experiences, that was really appealing to me as well. So that I would have Mount Holyoke as a home base, but that whenever I wanted to I could explore the greater Pioneer Valley.”
