“Well, I think about my experience at a women’s college — it was definitely a lot different from what I thought it was going to be. Mount Holyoke says in their year book, it’s not a hand holding environment. They really, really mean it. You’re really going to come here and sort of like be pushed. Or I feel like I was. I came to Mount Holyoke and I was really, really challenged, and just by things getting harder and really learning to respond to those challenges that I fully — I guess come to like it, and really come to be who I am. I think Mount Holyoke has really allowed me to do that. And it being a women’s college environment, it sort of — I think it eliminates all the guess work you have to do about yourself, because it’s just you and the material, you and really trying to learn. I feel like a lot of the other — you don’t think, well, I can’t do because, well, I’m a woman. That just doesn’t pop into your mind, and I think it’s really interesting. And I feel like I have built a lot of confidence just in this experience, being able to really express yourself, and raise your hand in your class. There are a lot of things that I initially didn’t have in high school that Mount Holyoke has really allowed me to develop. And so I feel like my experience here has been a good one. It’s been challenging, I’ve learned a lot, definitely about myself, and not just through the college growth process, but specifically Mount Holyoke really — you know, having professors who are very supportive and really push you along like you can do it. Yes, you can get an A. And I’ll say, okay, yes, I can.”
