Naeema:

“I’m very busy because I need to have a social life. That’s just something I enjoy doing. I enjoy being social. Some women enjoy kind of sitting in the library all day. That’s not me. I like doing work, but I also like interaction with my friends. And I think that is another reason why I love Mount Holyoke, because I’ve made great connections with women on this campus. Not only are they motivated and they are driven but they also - we all kind of have different passions and different interests. So it goes beyond socially just going to that party. Even though I entertain, I like parties, and I like hosting parties, that’s not the end, or that’s not the only way that I can kind of express myself socially. Going to poetry slams, going to Boston to hear someone speak at Harvard or MIT. Going to New York City for a conference or, you know, going out to eat in Northampton. So there are just different spaces that I utilize and take advantage of. Within the Five College area, and also outside. So I’m pretty busy with my friends, when we hang out, either up all night talking about something funny, silly, or serious. After we’ve been to a play, we’ll discuss the play in a kind of intellectual way. We also have fun, and we like running around the green, playing frisbee, or going out to Northampton, just walking around and going shopping. Or just running around the lower lake or upper lake. There’s so many different things you can do within the area, and I think it’s just important to be creative, and explore that side of you that you typically — well, I never really explored in New York City. You know, more of the creative side.”
