Welcome
Objective
Through a highly collaborative and
interactive process which engages our constituents, the Campus Master
Planning Committee will develop a campus master plan and landscape
master planning guidelines, using Philip Parsons' planning study
as a starting point and working in collaboration with a landscape
architect.
Scope
- Think about the shape of the campus over the
next twenty years
- Create a set of overall principles that can
provide a context for future work to be done on campus
- Assist in shaping current/near term construction
projects and the emerging master plan into an integrated whole
without being drawn into project development
- Evaluate and make recommendations about what
functions should go where in order to make the campus work most
effectively and to realize its greatest potential
- Select a landscape architect who will work
with the committee to develop a campus master plan
Vision
- To emphasize the academic and co-curricular
vitality of the campus through landscape and architecture
- To live in harmony with the way the campus
was built; to improve and enhance the campus without changing
its essential nature
- To use the physical facilities in ways that
support the College's mission and priorities (e.g. technology,
diverse community)
- To open the College to the world and increase
its beauty
- To frame areas of activity to make them visible
and attractive while preserving the sense of tranquility and
contemplation other areas of the campus offer
