All work is graded based on the approximate, relative amount of effort that I expect you to put into each assignment. Numerically, this is equivalent to the following scale:
Lab 1: 10%
Lab 2: 15%
Lab 3: 15%
Final Paper: 35% (of which 15% is based on your review)
Weekly writing assignments: 15%
Class participation: 10% (includes final presentation)
Late work is first graded. A late penalty of 5% per day late is assessed on deducted from the assigned grade. For example, a lab that receives a numerical score of 90 out of a possible 100 would be graded as follows:

Final Grades and Grading Curves
No curve is used in assigning final grades in this course. Grades are assigned according to the following scale:
A: 96-100% of possible points
A-: 90-95%
B+: 87-89%
B: 83-86%
B-: 80-82%
C+: 77-79%
C: 73-76%
C-: 70-72%
