Contributor's Notes
Becky Richardson is a member of the class of 2005 at MHC, and will be interning in Boston over the summer. Her short story, "The Sun on Clouds," was written in response to the object assignment in English 303. The object that inspired the story was a flimsy dollar store photo frame. Minh Duong is a member of the class of 2005 at MHC. Her story, “Ed Finch,” formally titled “Sundai Finch,” was a story inspired by a classmate’s dream. After numerous rewrites with several changes, including the deletion of the original dream, the story finally settled to its present form. I was interested in characterization, and I wrote about Ed, a generic character who leads a lonely and dull life, but whose quirky personality becomes the focus and humor of the story. Ije Okpokwasili is a member of the class of 2005 at Mount Holyoke College. She is a psychology major and and english minor, and hopes to find a career combining these two interests. Her story "I Bet I Would" was in response to a class assignment to write an experimental piece of fiction. She incorporated a suggestion to use different points of view, in concordance with her desire to be less verbose in her writing. She hoped to portray the notion that two people can be really more well in-tuned to one another's thoughts and feelings than they might think.
