HOW TO APPROACH TASKS/DISCUSSIONS
When formulating answers to the various tasks or contributing to a discussion, the following three steps should always be included:
  • DESCRIBE what you did to accomplish the task AND what you hope to achieve (your goal)
  • ANALYZE the procedure or method you chose to work towards your goal
  • REFLECT on the results (were you successful in reaching your goal--why?  if not, why not?)
ALL ANSWERS SHOULD BE ANALYTICAL AND REFLECTIVE IN NATURE!

FINAL TELI PORTFOLIO
You will be creating an "ELECTRONIC PORTFOLIO" (i.e., your own portfolio website) as your final product for the TELI course.  We are asking you to proceed as you did when you created a website for Task 11 in Exploration 5--i.e., you will upload the website to the same server.  Then you will simply submit the URL for your electronic portfolio to us (see Exploration 7, Section V for submission instructions.  No uploading to the TELI site will be necessary!  This will be a big help to those of you who are considering applying for National Board Certification since you can use the TELI portfolio as a model for the portfolio you must submit to the National Board!  Even if you're not considering national certification, you'll still be able to use a more expanded form of your electronic portfolio to promote your German program!  See sample teacher electronic portfolios below!
You should submit the URL for your final portfolio by March 17th at the latest!
THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS!

YOUR TELI ELECTRONIC PORTFOLIO SHOULD INCLUDE:

  1. A written self-assessment (5 or more pages; double-spaced) of your development as a teacher of German who has acquired expertise in using Internet resources in German instruction, and who is now able to assess the value of the Internet as an instructional tool.  In addition, we would like you to include at least four specific examples from different explorations that illustrate clearly HOW and WHAT you've learned from other TELI participants as the course progressed.
  2. Materials developed during the course such as worksheets, web pages, evaluation forms, standards-based thematic units, etc., AND answers to tasks or contributions to the discussions that you feel best demonstrate the level of expertise you have acquired, and illustrate clearly how you have developed as a serious practioner who is able to assess the value of the Internet as an instructional tool.  These answers to tasks or contributions to discussions can be copied from your JOURNAL.
Below are some examples of electronic portfolios.  Note that your portfolio will contain different materials and perhaps be arranged differently -- these are just examples for you to peruse!
