In class on November the 2nd President Joanne Creighton came to speak with us about the nature of the research we were doing, and more generally about tradition and change at Mount Holyoke. In preparation for this we provided the President with a packet of information containing one of the readings from our class, as well as a summary of the work that each of us are doing. Amber Hart served as the moderator for our class discussion, although not much interjection was necessary. The President seemed to be interested in hearing what projects individual students were pursuing, which proved equally as interesting for us, as we did not normally get to sit and discuss our research topics. Overall, we feel that having the President come was a valuable learning experience in that we learned from each other, and it gave us an opportunity to try out different methods of interaction before our larger meeting with the emeriti faculty, staff and partners.
