Group 2: Small Groups

Group 2 took on the responsibility of designing the format and content of our interview. As a class, we decided that we wanted the interview to take on a conversational model. With this in mind, Group 2 divided the alumnae and students into small discussion groups for the April 30th meeting. (Click here for a link to the Small Groups) Also with the help of the class, Group 2 decided to focus the questions for the interview around a common theme-diversity. After soliciting question ideas from the class, Group 2 composed a list of questions which encompassed a broad range of topics and ideas. In addition to our own questions, and keeping with the conversational model, the class of 1955 prepared their own list of questions to pose. Lastly, Group 2 approached the issue of recording. While the idea of tape recorders may seem obvious, Group 2 discouraged tape recorders as one of the goals of our class is to learn to rely on our own research for information, as opposed to technology which can fail at inopportune moments. As Carlyn Saltman was scheduled to film our interview on the 30th, Group 2 felt confident that we would have adequate documentation between the classes research notes and Carlyn's final product.
