Questions for the Class of 1955

1.) How many women were practicing their faith while at Mount Holyoke?

 

2.) How have your political opinions changed since you were at Mount Holyoke? Do you feel MHC had anything to do with this?

 

3.) To what would you attribute the increasing diversity of sexual orientations at the college today? Is it the atmosphere of the college or society in general?

 

4.) When you were here, what was your opinion of gym requirements? Did they make you more excited about physical activity? Were they a burden?

 

5.) Do you think of yourselves as privileged for being able to chose between a career a family as opposed to being expected to do both?

 

6.) What motivated you to go to college, Mount Holyoke in particular? In hindsight, would you have made the same decision for the same reasons?

 

7.) What do you think it means to be a Mount Holyoke woman?

 

8.) Was there a stigma on financial aid recipients when you went to Mount Holyoke? Do you think the college should work to make a Mount Holyoke education available to more people? Should more money be set aside for financial aid and scholarships?

 

9.) How is your idea about race now different from your views during your time at Mount Holyoke in the 1950's?

 

10.) What was your overall opinion of racial issues during your time at Mount Holyoke? Were you open to having African American as well as other minority students, perhaps foreign students, in your classes and at the same college as you?

 

11.) What do you perceive to be the biggest difference between the Mount Holyoke you attended and the Mount Holyoke you see today?
