Birthplace/ Place of Origin

The overwhelming majority of students from the class of 1955 were born in the United States and hailed from New England.

These data have been recoded using the U.S. Census’ standard categories to identify the region of origin of students of the class of 1955. Students in the 1950’s were mostly from the Northeast. Today however, Mount Holyoke Students are from all 50 states and over 75 different countries.
