On April 6, 2006, the students of sociology 224 conducted a collective interview with a number of Mount Holyoke women who had taken Biology 150 during their first two years in college. The specific course was chosen because it satisfies both the science distribution requirement and it operates as an introduction to biology for students who will later follow a major in this field. The interviewees were separated into three different groups each of which had one interviewer and one scribe from the class. The following essays are based on themes that were raised by the interviewees in all three groups.
