Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (--LEED--) Green Building Certification Program

The LEED program objective is to develop high-performance, sustainable buildings. It aims to recognize environmental leadership in the building industry. The LEED program stimulates green building competition among designers for the sake of increasing awareness of the advantages of designing green buildings. The LEED Green Building Rating SystemTM offers green certification to buildings that demonstrate innovative uses of green technologies.

The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) is
the government-affiliated organization that developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating SystemTM.
