Mission Statement

We, the students of the Environmental Studies Senior Seminar hope to educate and inspire students, faculty and staff of Mount Holyoke College through our efforts and research contained within this website. We aim to achieve a more sustainable campus by promoting environmental responsibility, conservation of resources, energy efficiency, and increased reliance on renewable energy sources.

Criteria for earning points in the LEED 'New Construction' Category

Water Efficiency---water use reduction, innovative waste water technologies

Energy & Atmosphere---optimize energy performance, renewable energy

Materials & Resources---storage and collection of recyclables, local/regional materials

Indoor Environmental Quality---daylight and views, low-emitting materials

Design Process---innovation in design

Sustainable Sites ---erosion and sediment control, light pollution reduction, reduced site disturbance
