For each of the sentences below, construct a suitable lexicon, and then translate the sentence into our extended symbolic language. Show as much logical form as you can.

  1. Leon wants a Republican to be president. (This is syntactically ambiguous; give two translations.)

  2. Nobody who wanted George W. Bush to be president understood that he is feeble-minded.

  3. Anybody who wants to understand why Gore believed that he could win will, if she is sane, hope to work to reëlect Bush.

  4. Only athletes who train will win. (This is syntactically ambiguous. For each reading, give an English sentences that expresses that reading with no ambiguity.)

  5. Somebody should bring a Frisbee to the picnic.

  6. Somebody should bring the Frisbee to the picnic.
