Films cannot show history as it actually was any more than texts can. To put every person into a film that partook of a historical event would be impossible, if only due to time constraints. However, composite characters can be created; characters who have meaning beyond their simply existing as one person. In this way, one person can come to represent, in general, all people of a certain type.
