Untitled Poem

found written on the back of a picture of the Upper Lake Dam

“ There’s joy that’s born of running brooks,
There’s peace of quiet waters;
And strength that from the high hills looks,
Like strength in us engenders.
There’s mellow sweetness caught from brooks,
Immortal in their giving,
And beauty breathed from shadowed nooks,
Shall pass into our living.”

This poem does a wonderful job of describing how the waterways on campus not only effect the ecology of the campus but how they also affect the daily lives and psyche of the Mount Holyoke Students.
