Underclass
women
join the fun - Freshman
Balloon Day and Sophomore Hoop Rolling
are two of the more elusive Play
Day related
activities. An article from 1922 mentions
that the class of 1917 tried to
participate in Play Day by "bringing
out hoops, marbles, or balloons" both
their freshman and sophomore years. Sophomore
Hoop Rolling appears to have taken hold,
becoming a short-lived tradition until
the beginning of the Twenties. Freshman
Balloon Day has even fewer records and
may have occurred for only a few years
in the early twenties, but seems to have
been
greatly enjoyed by those who participated.
