The
Black Walnut Tree, shown the same
year it blew down - 1917. (3) |
Mt. Holyoke College was hit twice the
year of 1917. On July 21st, the black
walnut tree that stood in front of the
science building - Williston Hall, blew
down. Then on December 22nd of the same
year, Williston Hall burnt to the ground!
The tree was estimated to have started
growing around 1774 which made it approximately
143 years old when it died.
