Abstract

Posted by Ralitsa Donkova on February 13, 2002 at 11:21:24:

Theme: Social life and entertainment in peasants' life

Argument: I will argue that no matter that the peasants had a hard life and most of their energy was fucused on survival, they still had time for entertainment and celebrations.

Supporting Evidence:
1. The description of a day in the stables by Pierre Lean Baptiste Le Grand d'Aussy
2. The statement that "On Sundays and holidays, the town's three taverns were always full from the end of the first mass until evening." (F.Y.Besnard)

Connection: I will make a connection with the descriptions of the peasants' hardship made by Gerald Cavanaugh and Bonnie G. Smith.
