It is a good point that you are making, but make sure that you do not go to the extreme of saying that women were doing most of the work and the men were just lingering around. Think about the oposite argument as well. Pierre...d'Aussy says: "The father then goes with his male children and his hired hands, if there are any, to take care of the animals and to change their litter."(p.146) Maybe men had different chores than women and the authors are not writing about them in such great detail.
