: Theme:
: >Community, Social interactions
THIS IS PRETTY BROAD. RECAST ON THE BASIS OF YOUR MORE SPECIFIC IDEAS THAT FOLLOW.

: Argument:
: >Community played an important role in the lives of rural peasants as both a social outlet and an economic dependence. VERY INTERESTING AND PROMISING. TRY TO BE MORE SPECIFIC BY REPLACING "IMPORTANT ROLE" WITH SOMETHING MORE CONCRETE THAT COMES OUT OF YOUR FURTHER THINKING AND WRITING.

: Supporting Evidence:
: >Social Connections: (Pierre Jean Baptiste Article)
: Peasant families gather in the warmest stable during the winter months to conduct their assemblies and religious rituals (147-8). RELATES TO SOCIABILITY CENTERED ON COMMUNITY OR NEIGHBORHOOD.

: >Economic Dependence: (F. Y. Besnard)
: Farmers who did not own enough land to provide for themselves entered into agreements with others in the area to share their economic resources (149-50).

THESE TWO EXAMPLES ARE NICELY ON TARGET FOR YOUR TWO ASPECTS OF WHAT I WOULD CALL "COMMUNALISM." OF COURSE YOU NEED TO EXTEND YOU DISCUSSION AND INTERPRETION OF THEM.

: Connection:
: >The point of interdependence is emphasized in Bonnie Smith's article. Specifically she writes, "Agricultural practices connected families to one another in a community" (23).
: She goes on to explain the how the agricultural practices of the time lead to the economic interdependence of the rural peasantry.

EXCELLENT CONNECTION.

YOUR IDEAS ARE IMPRESSIVE AND WELL RELATED. WELL DONE.
