: Theme: Never underestimate the need for human interaction and socialization.

HOW ABOUT RECASTING THIS TO LINK MORE SPECIFICALLY WITH THE DOCUMENTS. AS IT STANDS, IT IS VERY BROAD AND COULD REFER TO US TODAY. A GOOD IDEA, HOWEVER.

: Argument: Although the peasants were hardworking, they still led a life which was garnished with some fun, laugher and socialization. VERY PROMISING. RECAST "SOCIALIZATION" BECAUSE THAT'S NOT WHAT YOU'RE DRIVING AT. AS I READ YOUR EVIDENCE IT BECOMES CLEAR THAT YOU'RE NOT TALKING ABOUT ALL PEASANTS, RIGHT?

: Supporting Evidence:

: (1) In Pierre Jean Baptiste Le Grande d'Aussy's article he mentions women saving what little money they had to buy lamp oil so that they could see each other when meeting late at night in the stables. THIS HAS TO DO WITH WOMEN'S SOCIALIZING, BUT THE WAY YOU PHRASE IT HERE PUTS THE EMPHASIS ON THEIR RESOURCEFULNESS AND SHARING OF AN EXPENSE. WORK WITH YOUR EVIDENCE SO THAT IT CLEARLY SUPPORTS THE MAIN ARGUMENT YOU WISH TO MAKE.

: (2) In Besnard's article he mentions that they went to the tavern on Sunday when they weren't in church. This is another example of socialization. OKAY, ANOTHER GOOD EYE FOR RELEVANT DETAIL. WHAT ELSE IS REVEALED HERE? THE PRIEST'S ADMONISHMENT? THE DIFFERENT SOCIAL LOCATIONS FOR WOMEN'S GATHERINGS?

: Connection: In Smith's article (p23) she details the dating encounters of young people and their socialization in barns. OKAY, GOOD IDEA, BE SURE TO DEVELOP IT SPECIFICALLY.

YOU'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK
