Team Template: the table above should be set to 75 percent, with the cells on either end set to absolute 93 pixels; the navigation bar should be set to 96 pixels. Neither the banner table or the navigation bar should have a height value.

DO NOT USE THE DRAG HANDLES TO ADJUST PAGE WIDTH OR HEIGHT BECAUSE DOING SO WILL CONVERT THE SIZES INTO FIXED PIXEL DIMENSIONS; WE WANT TO USE RELATIVE DIMENSIONS, I.E., PERCENT DIMENSIONS AND ONLY FOR WIDTH, NOT HEIGHT.

Furthermore:

1. Standard fonts for body of pages: arial 3; arial 3 bold;arial 4; arial 4        bold

2. Page sizing:

  • set relative width of pages to be placed into a template at 100 percent
  • actual width in design should not be much more than 500 pixesl
  • height: OMIT or remove

3. Text alignment:

  • default should be left
  • use center alignment sparingly for titles or the like because it produces jagged edges on both margins

4. Special formatting:

  • Titles of books, periodicals, etc. in Italics
  • In text references (Author page) with link to Works Cited
  • Images and captions: titles of images should be in normal type with captions in italics (art historical convention)
  • Work Cited: Author last name, first name. Title. Place of publication: publisher, date. For periodical: Author last name, first name. "Title of article." Title of Journal, Vol. no., date: [pages]
  • Citing images: see pertinent examples "Using Visual Images" linked to http://www.mtholyoke.edu/courses/rschwart/hist257/home.html
  • Web citation: complete URL with the date consulted.
  • More on citing sources: see "How to Cite Sources" linked to http://www.mtholyoke.edu/courses/rschwart/hist257/home.html

Changes across pages are readily done with the global search and replace function in Dreamweaver. Caution must be used to insure that your changes conform to you wishes and that mistakes are not made and then saved.
