Students with Learning and Physical Disabilities Opportunities - American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) - The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) has developed unique partnerships with IBM, NASA, along with other major corporations and the National Science Foundation to meet their human resources needs. AAAS is able to identify and screen undergraduate and graduate students with disabilities, who are pursuing degrees in science, engineering, mathematics and some fields of business. - DO-IT (Disabilities, Opportunites, Internetworking and Technology) Program - DO-IT has been primarily funded by the National Science Foundation to increase the representation of people with disabilities in challenging fields such as science, engineering, mathematics, and technology. A unique feature of their program is an extensive electronic community where adults, most with disabilities themselves, mentor young people with disabilities via the Internet. They use a wide variety of adaptive technology, including screen enlargement, voice output, voice input, alternative keyboards, and special switches. - The ENTRY POINT! program includes opportunities for competitive paid internships in private industries and also in government agencies. - Kresge Hearing Research Institute - Located at the University of Michigan for deaf students. |
