i know this is a little behind time but I found something interesting on the net which I thought you guys should also read. Its a little like the Matewan and Norma Rae situations but an example that exists even today.
The site is www.labourfile.org/Mining/special_report.htm and its Mining Industry in India & the Dynamics of People's Resistances by J. John.
I would suggest you go to the para subtitled Industry v/s Worker and go on further to the para that starts with Dagmal Engels (in Peter Robb 1993).
A couple of things that will help you Rs50=$1 and Jamshedpur is a city in India which is basically run by the company (TISCO).
Hope this is interesting to u guys n i am not completely out of line :)
