Textbook:
Integrated Chinese, Level 1, Part 1 & Part 2 (including three separate books: Textbook Workbook and Character Workbook)
Audiotapes for the textbooks are available at the Language Resource Center.

Course Requirements:

Attendance:
It is crucial for you to attend class every day and don't miss any chance of practice. Any absence without a medical doctor's note or the instructor's permission will affect your final grade.

Participation:
Since the pace of the course is fast, the learning will be effective only when students are very well prepared for the vocabulary and discussion topics of each lesson before coming to the classroom. Make sure you listen to the tape everyday and practice the characters you've learned whenever you can.

Homework:
All assignments should be submitted on the time due and will be graded. Delaying homework is a bad habit and will affect your progress in learning, therefore should be avoided. Late work will be not accepted. .

Quizzes:
No Make-ups for weekly quizzes, tests and dictations unless you have a doctor's note or the instructor's approval in advance.

Lab Work:
Students are expected to attend lab regularly to listen to the tapes of each lesson and practice characters using computer tutorial software.

Tutorial:
A 20-30 minutes individual tutorial time will be assigned for each student every week. This is the most precious time to reinforce your learning individually, go for it and don't miss the golden opportunity.
