Environmental Stewardship
The Mount Holyoke College Plan for 2003 called upon the College to "improve environmental literacy and awareness, generate scientific knowledge, guide public policy, and encourage students, faculty and staff to advocate and effect social change to improve the environmental health of our community and our world." While making continual progress toward that goal, the Mount Holyoke College Plan for 2010 calls upon us to "accelerate our progress toward systematic practice of environmental stewardship, providing an excellent example of synergy between curricular and administrative efforts and a clear focus on cost-effective applications of environmentally responsible principles."
Environmental Indicators
To track our progress toward achieving these goals, the College has established five Environmental Indicators measuring energy use, greenhouse gas emissions, recycling rate, campus land use, and storm water management.
