Shenzhen Diguang Electronics Co., LTD is an international company specializing in the production of LED backlights (screens used in cell phones, digital cameras, etc.). Shenzhen is in the heartland of modern Chinese industrial development, and is located in the Guangdong region near Hong Kong. Students of varying majors are welcome to apply. Some knowledge of Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) is very helpful in every day living, but not essential for the position.

This will be an opportunity to learn firsthand what it's like to run and work for a highly successful, globalized Chinese production company supplying clients all over the world. The intern will work on projects with a team in the international sales department. She will communicate with global customers. She will also set up English language classes and conversation groups based on schedules and needs of the local workers. These classes are intended to improve the pronunciation and listening comprehension skills of the company's employees. Developing handouts and PowerPoint presentations is essential for maximum productivity during limited class time.

The intern's colleagues at Diguang will facilitate travel opportunities for her, and are generally dedicated to all aspects of the MHC intern's well-being. Living stipend provided by the company to cover basic room and board.

The intern must be a native or fluent English speaker. A self-reliant self-starter with initiative, enthusiasm, and excellent communication skills is preferred. She must be willing to- and capable of- tackling and overcoming unforeseen challenges, especially cross-cultural situations. Prior teaching experience helpful.
