Research and Logistics Intern
Location : New York, NY
Housing : Intern must secure housing on her own

Women's World Banking (WWB) works to build an effective global network of microfinance institutions and banks that provide sustainable financial services to low-income women and their families. WWB also engages policy makers and other key actors to spur innovation in the expansion of financial services for low-income people. During 30 years of pioneering work in the microfinance field, WWB has demonstrated that when given access to credit and other financial services, low-income entrepreneurs are resourceful, dynamic and bankable economic agents.
Based in New York City, the WWB Global Team works with members of the WWB Network, offering management guidance, training, technical assistance, financial products and services, contacts and advice on how to impact government policies. WWB also promotes innovations in microfinance, enabling network members to better serve the needs of more low-income clients. As a result, many WWB network institutions have grown from small women's groups to respected microfinance banks.
For the past two years, WWB has held a Women in Leadership Workshop. Last year, 28 senior and mid-level women executives from microfinance institutions in developing countries came together to sharpen their leadership skills and learn how to be stronger, more effective, more skillful leaders in their organizations.
The duties of the intern will include:
- Providing logistical support for the Women in Leadership Workshop
- Drafting newsletter articles that will include interviews of participants of the conference
- Conducting web research to build virtual library focusing on issues relating to microfinance, women’s leadership and gender in the workplace.
The intern should have very strong writing and research skills, and strong organizational skills. Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
