La Campana

WINNER

Standing on top of the tallest peak in Parque Nacional La Campana in central Chile, we look toward the vast expanse of the Pacific Ocean on one side and the formidable Andes Mountains on the other. High above the cloud line, we hold our collective breath; the complicated and violent history of the country does not disturb the calm. Governments and policies change, millions of people live out their lives, but these carved, jagged rocks do not lose their beauty. This natural splendor is not breathtaking, but life-giving. We exhale.
