Fundación Pro-Alvear Program Intern
Location: Intendente Alvear, La Pampa, Argentina Duration: 2 to 3 months within June-August time period Housing: Sponsor will assist intern to secure housing

Fundación Pro-Alvear is a non-governmental organization committed to supporting egalitarian economic, social and educational development in the north of the Argentinean Pampas region. Fundacion Pro-Alvear offers an array of extracurricular activities, such as computer training, sports, and school enrichment programs. Fundacion Pro-Alvear also provides disadvantaged youth in Intendente Alvear, La Pampa, Argentina with alternatives to unproductive or dangerous pastimes.
Fundación Pro-Alvear focuses on initiatives in the areas of education, democratizing new technologies, fostering economic development, training the local labor force, and preserving the cultural heritage of La Pampa. The responsibilities of the intern will include the following:
- Prepare a survey to determine the highest needs of the population of Intendente Alvear. Meet with public figures, members of the press, the local population, and school teachers.
- Propose ways in which Fundacion Pro-Alvear can tackle the needs identified in the survey (especially in the areas of education, economic development, training of the local workforce), and develop a business plan for our non-profit.
- Build up a database of potential international organizations interested in funding proposed initiatives, and develop relationships with targeted organizations.
- Teach English and/or computer skills 2 to 3 hours a day to primary- and high-school students from low income neighborhoods.
The ideal candidate should have a passion for non-profit work.
Requirements: Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) Proficiency in Spanish. Excellent people skills, excellent communication skills, and genuine openness to and interest in exploring new cultures and perspectives.
