Swine Flu Information and Students Learning Abroad
The College has been carefully monitoring the outbreak of H1N1 influenza ("swine flu"). Based on information reported by the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the World Health Organization, the College is not prohibiting travel to Mexico for students who have received institutional funding for summer internships or research projects in that country. Students funded for summer projects in Mexico should decide whether or not to pursue their proposed projects based on the their assessment of the risk involved. We strongly recommend that students continue to monitor updates from the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization.
Students travelling abroad from the U.S. should note that they may experience delays, as they may be required to undergo screening when they arrive in their host country. For more information, please read this announcement on H1N1 screening procedures from the CDC.
