Every page on the main server that uses the Document Interface must carry identifying information about the person or organization who is responsible for the content of the page (the page "creator") and the person or organization who is responsible for making sure that the page is up to date and that all of the links are functional (the page "maintainer"). To provide this information, you use the commands below.
The page creator is the equivalent of the author of a book. The creator is responsible for the original content of the page. Use the following command to specify the page creator:
.MADE Creator= [URL=] [Email=]
The first parameter, Creator, gives the full name of the page's
author. The optional URL parameter gives a link to the author's
WWW home page. The optional Email parameter provides his or
her email address. For example:
<!--.MADE "Dan Wilga"
"http://home.mtholyoke.edu/~dwilga" "dwilga"-->
The page maintainer is responsible for keeping the page in working shape. In some cases this will include updating the content of the page. In other cases, it will include simply making sure that the page displays properly and that all of the HTML anchors from the page function properly. Use the following command to specify the page maintainer:
.MAINTAINS Maintainer= [URL=] [Email=]
The first parameter, Maintainer, gives the full name of the
page's maintainer. The optional URL parameter gives a link to
the person's WWW home page. The optional Email parameter provides
his or her email address. For example:
<!--.MAINTAINS "Dan Wilga"
"http://home.mtholyoke.edu/~dwilga" "dwilga"-->
If your document is on the main Web server and you do not use both
the .MADE and .MAINTAINS commands, your page will
display the message "This page has been improperly attributed." |
| These commands are not nedded in personal Web pages. |
| For an easy way to have the DI tell you what parameters to use in order to get the results you want, give the Command Creation Wizard a try. |
