The Copyright Notice

Syntax: .COPYRIGHT Owner= URL= [Years=]

The copyright to all works presented through the Online Information System that have been created by employees of Mount Holyoke College in pursuit of their work-related responsibilities are owned by Mount Holyoke College, with the exception of scholarly and pedagogical works by faculty.

By default, each page in the Online Information System carries a copyright statement asserting the College's copyright. If the copyright to a page you are creating is not held by Mount Holyoke College, you can modify the copyright statement to reflect the correct ownership. You do so with the following command:

.COPYRIGHT Owner= URL= [Years=]

For example:

<!--.COPYRIGHT Owner="Copyright Holder" URL="copyright.shtml"-->

The required Owner parameter is the real name of the person or group who owns the copyright. The URL points to a document containing a formal statement of copyright rights.

To change the year of copyright

By default, the Document Interface displays the year of copyright as the year in which the file was last modified. If this is incorrect, you can specify the appropriate year or range of years (e.g. 1995-1996) with the optional Years parameter :

<!--.COPYRIGHT "Copyright Holder" "copyright.shtml" "1996-97"-->

For the value of Years, include the year or range of years applicable to the copyright.

The .COPYRIGHT command is not available for personal Web pages.
