Syntax: .MENU File=
This command inserts an expandable and collapsible menu at the location of the command. This menu can be used to represent any sort of tree structure, like the outline of a long document or a list of files.
In the menu file, any unordered lists (enclosed in <UL></UL>
tags) are converted to an expandable list by the document interface.
A similar effect to this command can be achieved by simply renaming the file
with the extension .menu and viewing it directly. See this
page for more information.
Here is an example using the .MENU command. This is what the list looks like when displayed normally:
Flora and Fauna
- Antelopes
- Fish
- Salt Water
- Haddock
- Trout
- Carp
- Daisies
- Trees
- Oak
- Maple
- Conifers
- Scotch Pine
- Blue Spruce
Here is some text underneath the menu.
And this is the command used to produce the menu, along with the result. Click on the yellow arrows to expand branches.
<!--.menu "menutest.html"-->Flora and Fauna
Antelopes
Fish
Daisies
Trees
Here is some text underneath the menu.
Notice how the Location URL changes each time you expand a branch. You can have a menu always open to a certain state by using this URL as a link from another page.
