Create the MHC Web Look with Dreamweaver

The Dreamweaver section of this guide addresses the process of how to obtain or maintain the pre-2006 College Web design. Official College sites began to migrate into a new Web design and Web tool, Web Content Management (CMS), beginning in spring 2006. Offices and departments will be contacted regarding the migration process prior to the migration. Meanwhile, all official College Web sites should retain the pre-2006 College Web design using Dreamweaver.

If you are looking for information about forms, databases, adding hit counters, creating a shortcut URL, etc. go the the Utilities section of this guide.

Before you begin creating a new Web site, we encourage you to become familiar with the concepts discussed in the Planning section of this style guide.

Overview of Process

  1. Review the Page Elements to determine which Web page layout(s) you want to obtain.
  2. Complete the online Document Interface Command Creation Wizard. Copy the the results generated by the wizard, paste them into a blank Web page and save it as a template.
Note: If you do not have the latest version of the HTML editor Dreamweaver installed on your machine, log on to Track-It and request Dreamweaver.
  3. Customize your new template so that it includes all of your navigational elements and any other information that should be on all of your pages.
Note: you may need to create more than one template.
  4. Refer to the rest of this section for specific details on fonts and colors, page titles, headings and navigation.
  5. Apply the template to your Web pages.
  6. Check your Web site for broken links.
