Document Interface

Go to DI Wizard

To obtain the MHC Web design for your Web site, you will need to use the MHC Document Interface (DI) Wizard. The Wizard is designed to make it easy for information providers (Web developers) at Mount Holyoke to achieve several important objectives when designing pages for their site:

  • To provide readers with a consistent, "Mount Holyoke" look and feel to the pages, and to do it in such a way that the look of the entire system can be updated globally without having to manually change every file.
  • To provide readers with a set of standard navigational controls that allow them to move around the site.
  • To put the information on screen into context for the reader.

Additional Help

Brief Overview of How to Obtain the MHC Web Look

  1. Map to an official College Webspace.
  2. Complete the online Document Interface Wizard.
  3. Paste the result from the Wizard into a Dreamweaver document.
  4. Save the document as a template and edit/modify your template according to your needs.
  5. Apply the template to your Web pages.

Important Notes

  • For the Document Interface to work properly, your file extension must be ".shtml" or ".shm".
  • Some of the Document Interface features are not available for personal Web pages.
  • Every page that uses the Document Interface must carry identifying information about the person or organization who is responsible for the content of the page (the page "creator") and the person or organization who is responsible for making sure that the page is up to date and that all of the links are functional (the page "maintainer").
