Page Title

The title of a Web page document is displayed at the top of the browser window, as shown here

Each Web page should have a unique title. The title should be a brief description of the Web page. If no title is assigned, when a user bookmark's the page, the bookmark will reflect "Untitled Document".

The title feature also helps bring visitors to your site, as many search engines search for key words in titles. The MHC Search tool uses the page title to search, and the results includes the page title.

It depends on the browser as to whether the title appears centered or to the left. A document title is often confused with the heading or subheading of a Web page. Headings or subheadings are displayed within the body of the Web page.

Dreamweaver Tip

Insert the page title into Dreaweaver as shown below.
